This is The Game. A celebrity Death Pool.
The Celebrity Death Pool is for our amusement only and is by invitation only.
Rules:
Choose ten well known candidates you predict will pass in the calendar year 2025.
Well know candidates are actual human beings still alive as of midnight Jan 1, 2026. An account of the candidate’s death must be reported by at least one major news outlet such as the New York Times, CNN, The BBC, etc.
No fictional persons or other entities please. Candidates need not be American and candidates under the attained age of 18 on Jan 1, 2026 will not be allowed. Candidates are typically from, but not limited to, entertainment, sports, the arts, religion, or government.
You may not contribute in any way to the cause of death of any of your candidates.
Points are awarded based on attained age.
Attained Age is computed as the age, in whole years, as of the candidate’s last birth anniversary as of the date of death. So, for example (if this game was staged in 2023), consider Suzanne Somers. She passed away on Oct 15, 2023. She was born on Oct 16, 1946. Her last birth anniversary was Oct 16, 2022, giving her an attained age at death of 76. Had she persisted one more day, her attained age would have computed to 77.
Points are awarded as follows: 100 – [attained age at Death]. So, using the Suzanne Sommers example, points would be awarded with this calculation: 100 – 76 = 24.
The player accumulating the most points at the end of the game, end of day Dec 31, 2025, is the winner.
At the end of the game (at the start of 2027), points will be tallied and the contestant scoring the most points will be awarded the entire pool of money. In the case of a tie with points, the contestant with the most events (deaths) will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie, the contestant choosing the earliest event wins it all. If there is still a tie, the pool money will be evenly distributed to tied contestants.
You can be in for $20.
Pick ten candidates. There is not a draft. There are likely to be duplicates between contestants, which is fine. Please e-mail your list of candidates to phil@FlagpoleSoftware.com before noon Dec 31, 2025. You can remit your wager, which I, as the administrator of The Game, will hold and distribute to the winner(s) at or around Jan 1, 2027.

Please choose a Game Name. This is a public facing web site, but I have taken steps to mask the content so search engines should not find anything of interest.
Please remember that this is just a game. We are merely wagering on potential events, and not celebrating the death of any human being. The game should not be looked at as a “wish list” and mean-spiritedness will not be condoned.
